), has an autistic brother, Tom, who she has taken to a special hospital in order for him to get the care he needs while she is at college. However, Kelly's check is rejected so she phones her bank, and is informed that John withdrew all the money from her account, claiming it is rightfully his despite it being for Tom's care.

John brings the tiger home, and realizes that a hurricane is on its way so he boards up the windows. Kelly demands to know where her money is and begs him to give her what's left, but he reveals that he spent it on a tiger and there isn't anything left. Kelly is upset and calls her college professor to ask if she can start second semester so she can take care of some family business, but she is on a scholarship and has already pushed it back twice so if she doesn't arrive first semester then it will go to someone else. She sends Tom to bed and falls asleep herself, after dropping her dirty laundry down the laundry chute, unknowingly dropping her phone down as well. That night, an unseen person lets the tiger into the house. Kelly has a dream she suffocates Tom so she doesn't have to take care of him anymore. She wakes up and goes downstairs for a drink, seeing a note from John says that he has gone to the shops. As she goes back upstairs, she hears a low rumblin noise, but doesn't see anything. Hearing it again, she goes to investigate, and sees the tiger. She tries to break open a window, but it is boarded up, along with the doors, so she is trapped. Sneaking into Tom's room, she finds he isn't there so she tries to phone the police but the phone line is down due to the hurricane. She sees her phone down the laundry chute and manages to sneak downstairs to retrieve it, but is heard by the tiger, who starts to break into the room. The line is busy so they will ring her back and the door is breaking so she climbs up the laundry chute to hide, dropping her phone in the process. The tiger breaks in and searches the room, several times passing underneath the chute where Kelly is hiding. Kelly starts to sweat profusely, and nearly slips but manages to hold on. The police then ring her back, but the tiger steps on her phone, crushing it. The tiger is about to leave, but Kelly's sweat drips onto the floor and the tiger comes over to investigate and licks it. The tiger looks up the laundry chute and sees Kelly. It attacks her, but she manages to climb up the laundry chute and escape unharmed. In her room, she finds Tom sitting silently and furiously asks him where he was. The tiger searches the house for them, and they hide in various ways. Kelly gets some meat from the fridge and puts sleeping pills in it in an attempt to drug the tiger. She tries to contact the police using John's computer, but the internet is also down because of the hurricane. She and Tom go to the guest room, which is being redecorated, and tries to break down one of the boards, which attracts the attention of the tiger. They manages to escape, but Kelly's legs gets clawed and she bleeds heavily. She and Tom go to John's room, where Kelly bandages her leg and finds documents about her and Tom, which states that John will get over $1,000,000 in life insurance if anything happens to them. Realising that John let the tiger in the house to kill them, Kelly finds a gun and tells Tom to go to the laundry room. They go downstairs and Tom wanders off, but Kelly is unable to follow as the tiger enters the room. She goes to shoot it, but fires a blank and is chased by the tiger. She goes to the laundry room, breaks open the window and manages to escape just before the tiger breaks in and jumps at her. She gets in the car to get help, but can't bring herself to leave Tom and goes back inside. She avoids the tiger and finds Tom, promising him that she will never leave him again. They sneak down to the laundry room, but are attacked by the tiger. Kelly holds him off, and she and Tom get into a storage freezer, meant for the tiger's food. They are safe from the tiger, and Kelly tells him to go to sleep.

Kelly wakes up, hearing drilling from outside. John is removing the board covering the from door, armed with a rifle to kill the tiger, thinking it has already killed Kelly and Tom. He walks into to find them both standing there. Kelly says that the police would never believe her if she told, and Tom doesn't understand what happened, so is he going to let them go. John reveals that Kelly's mom was going to leave her, so he killed her, making it look like suicide. Kelly is disgusted, and just as John is about to explain, the tiger jumps out and grabs John, dragging him off and eating him alive. Kelly and Tom sneak out, and Kelly chances a look at the tiger, who stares at her but doesn't attack, allowing Kelly and Tom to leave, hand in hand.
