History

Bulimba was originally settled as a farming district, however was subdivided as a result of the 1880s land boom. In earlier times, the suburb was (unusually) located on both sides of the river. The part of Bulimba on the northern bank of the river is today regarded as Teneriffe

or New Farm. If searching for an old address, the possibility that it is on the northern side of the river should be considered.

Today Bulimba is considered by many as one of the most over priced suburbs of Brisbane, with the quality of housing considered very poor, particularly in the newer estate areas that were built in the late 1990's and early 2000's.

Transportation

Ferry services, via CityCat and CityFerry, are located off Oxford Street and Apollo Rd. Bulimba is also serviced by Brisbane Transport buses.
