History

In 1942, Japanese troops occupied the town of Buguias, Benguet.

On July 27, 1945, beginning the battle for the liberation by the combined Filipino and American troops entered the town of Buguias, Benguet including the Filipino soldiers of the 66th Infantry Regiment, Philippine Commonwealth Army, USAFIP-NL was fought the Japanese Imperial forces during World War II

Veteran Memorial Marker

This is an emerging man-made attraction for tourism in the municipality of Buguias, Benguet. It marks the liberation of Abatan and Buguias on July 27, 1945 between the Japanese Imperial Army and the combined Filipino and American ground troops. Through municipal council resolution No. 19; July 27, 1945 was declared as the Liberation Day and local holiday in the municipality. Festivals during this date include parade, programs and wreath-laying.

World War II 66th Infantry Shrine

This is another potential man-made attraction for the municipality of Buguias. It symbolizes the bravery of the combined Filipino and American soldiers; this is where they stood their ground defending the area and firing their cannons against the Japanese forces. This historical monument is located in Lengaoan, along the Halsema highway and it's about 75 kilometers away from Baguio City
