Broadview Public School, originally built in 1914 under the name Broadway Public School, was constructed on land which was part of the Cole Farm in Nepean Township. It was a small, wooden, four-room structure which was consumed by fire shortly afterwards. Construction of a new school started soon afterwards and was finished in 1916. The total cost was $20,000. The principal of the new school was Mr. Leach.
Again in 1926, Broadview was partly damaged by a fire. It was rebuilt in 1927 and this was the primary section.
In 1927, a high board fence was built around the school to protect it from blowing sand from the large sand dunes found around the school at the time.
An extension to be utilized as the intermediate section was built in 1948. The extension consisted of a gym, office, library and several classrooms. More additions were made in 1951, 1952 and 1957. In 1957 the second storey was added. There was another addition for the library in 1973, which housed, amongst other reference materials, a wide variety of audio-visual aids for use by the students of the day.
In the 1972-73 school year, the school had a staff of 41 teachers, 925 students from kindergarten to grade 8 and the principal at the time was Mr. R.A. Russell.
