In February 2006 he was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities. He was re-elected again in 2008 and again in 2011 where he declined the offer to continue as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and instead took on the challenges of the Budget Committee and the Justice and Human Rights Committee.
