Despain has written two novels in her "Dark Divine" series. The first novel, The Dark Divine, was published in 2009, and the second, The Lost Saint, was published in December 2010. The series' main character is Grace Divine, a teenage girl who is the daughter of a pastor

whose life is flipped once an old childhood friend, Daniel Kalbi, returns into her life. Her brother, Jude, does not like Daniel ever since something happened between them years ago that neither of them wants to ever mention. At the same time Daniel returns, mysterious things begin to happen in Grace's town and she wonders if Daniel has something to do with it. He acts strange, but is Grace ready for the truth?

Despain's third and final installment to the Dark Divine series, Savage Grace, releases March 13, 2012.
