Braintree Freeport railway station

Braintree Freeport railway station serves the large Freeport out-of-town outlet shopping centre on the southern outskirts of Braintree, Essex. The unstaffed single platform station is located on the Witham/Braintree Branch Line 71 km (44.1 mi) north east of London Liverpool Street railway station and has a platform shelter but no other facilities.

Adjacent stations are to the south-east and to the north-west. The station opened on 8 November 1999.

The station is served and operated by the National Express East Anglia railway operating company. All services are scheduled to be operated by Class 321

A self-service ticket machine has been provided on the station platform.

Despite having 1,500 free car parking spaces for the shopping centre and there being no pay machines on site, there has now been a charge implemented for long stay car parking beyond six hours with which you have to pay via phone or online, likely to catch out train users as signs in the car park are scarce.
