History

The branch line was originally opened in the 1860s, as the current Bognor Regis Station is not the original; the original was, in fact, around a mile away from where the current Barnham station is located. The branch line was built to connect Bognor Regis station to the West Coastway line. The branch line is set up as a conventional branch line, in the fact that not every train has to go into the station to carry on along the main line. This is in contrast to stations such as Eastbourne
