Blue Hill is a hill and one of eight districts of the island of Saint Helena
, a British
overseas territory in the South Atlantic Ocean, located in the west and southwest of the island. Its main settlement, with the location of the community centre, is Blue Hill Village. The district also includes the settlements Barren Ground
, Head o' Wain, Woodlands, Thompson's Wood, Broad Bottom, and the new housing areas High Hill and Burnt Rock/Horse Pasture.
Blue Hill is the largest, most remote, most rural, least populated and least densely populated of the eight districts of Saint Helena. In 2008 it had a population of 153, compared to a population of 177 in 1998.
In 2011 a proposal was published in the Washington Post (and reproduced in the St. Helena Independent) that Blue Hill be made into a “retirement village for exiled dictators”, citing its isolation and small existing population.
