Handheld overiew

The BlackBerry 8700 is a thin, stylish, lightweight device with a bright, high-resolution LCD screen with intelligent light sensing technology. It has Bluetooth and a built-in speakerphone mode for hands-free communication. It also contains an HTML browser and is fully compatible with the BlackBerry Enterprise Server as well as many POP3, IMAP and Webmail accounts.

The 8700 series has another enhancement which is more memory than previous models; at 64MB, it’s twice the amount available on any earlier BlackBerry. The 8700 series has two user-programmable soft keys, one between the Talk and End keys, and one on the left side. These are handy for setting up one-touch access to favorite apps. Navigation is accomplished using the traditional BlackBerry trackwheel. The 8700 series is the first BlackBerry to feature an Intel processor, the XScale-based PXA901. In this series, BlackBerry introduces two new features for reading faxes and maps. It also has built-in attachment support for common formats such as PDF, Excel, Front Page and Word.

The 8700 series contains all the basic software to organize day such as Address book, Calendar, memo pad and task list.
