William Oliver “Bill” Luckett (born March 17, 1948) is a Clarksdale, MS businessman, attorney, and candidate in the Mississippi gubernatorial election, 2011
Luckett is the owner of several restaurants including Ground Zero Blues Club and the fine dining restaurant Madidi. He is a senior partner of the Luckett Tyner Law Firm. He and his wife, Francine Luckett, also run a real estate business where they purchase, rehabilitate, and rent some buildings in the Coahoma County area. They have been married for 25 years and have four children between them: Oliver Luckett, Whitney Luckett, Douglas Dunavant, and Glenn Poole; and six grandchildren.

Luckett joined the military and conducted his basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. He received his Advanced Individual Training at Redstone Arsenal
in Huntsville, Alabama, where in March 1971 he again graduated first in his class. He was recognized as the top trainee of his 10,000 member brigade. In 1972 he attended Officer Candidate School in Mississippi and was presented the Erickson Trophy naming him the outstanding officer candidate. He then served as a commissioned officer in the Mississippi National Guard for eight years.

Bill has long been active in the NAACP in Mississippi and has been a Lifetime Member since November 1995. He serves as the Lifetime Membership Chairman of the Coahoma County branch.
He served on the Board of Directors of the Mississippi Hospitality & Restaurant Association, the North Mississippi Advisory Board for Regions Bank, the Clarksdale, Beautification Committee, the Clarksdale-Coahoma County Planning Commission, the Clarksdale-Coahoma County Airport Board, and the Mississippi Blues Foundation Advisory Board.
He is President of his local hunting club in Coahoma County.
In 2005 Bill Luckett was honored with the May Fest “Trailblazer of the Year” award given to him in recognition as an outstanding Mississippian for his significant contribution to diversity in the state of Mississippi.

Early life
As a youth he worked as a janitor at his father’s law office. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America and worked summers as a house painter. He is a 1966 graduate of Clarksdale High School, where he served as President of his Senior Class, and a 1970 graduate of the University of Virginia., where he was a member of the Kappa AlphaKappa Alpha Order
