In 1959 he succeeded his elder brother as third Baron Trevethin, although he continued to be known as Lord Oaksey. the titles are held by his only son, the fourth Baron Trevethin and second Baron Oaksey, who succeeded in 1971. He is a well-known horse racing journalist. Like his father he is known simply as Lord Oaksey.
