The road employs a single-carriageway
system that is subject to the country's national speed limit of 80 kilometres per hour (49.7 mph). In 2006, the Kenyan Government
budgeted KSh
2 billion (almost £16 million GBP in 2008) to resurface the 113 kilometres (70.2 mi) section between Mombasa and Malindi, with two firms undertaking the project - each working on half of the road.
In Mombasa, the B8 road connects to two other major roads: the A109
(to Nairobi
