. The school runs primarily an English program with grades Junior Kindergarten to grade 8, as well as a French Immersion program with the same grades. The school opened on September 2, 2008, with approximately 450 students. Enrollment increased to 577 in September 2009 and since then, has gone up to around 620, resulting in the use of portable classrooms. The school is in the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board

The school is situated beside and shares a parking lot with Portobello Park, a children's park and sports field.

Mascot and School Colours

The mascot of the school is a lion, which ultimately beat out the Avalon "Archers" and "Legends", the other two possibilities as voted on by future students of the school before the school opened in 2008. These students also voted on red and gold as the school colours.
