Founded in 1979, the Association for International Cancer Research (AICR) has awarded over €135,000,000 in research grants in 32 different countries. AICR supports fundamental research into the causes, mechanisms, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cancer by awarding research grants and fellowships. In the year ending September 2009, AICR awarded approximately £10 million in cancer research grants of which about half were outside the UK.
