He started his career in the local youth club JFK Skonto, joining Olimps/RFS in 2009. He played there for a year just being 17. He managed to score 10 goals in 18 appearances during his first season in professional football. He helped the team reach its highest position ever - 5th place in the Latvian Higher League.

. Before the next season Starkovs was confirmed as the manager of Skonto, despite being the manager of the national team too. He started his work with the squad reorganization, so Karašausks was taken to Skonto alongside 5 other players from Olimps/RFS.

He started the 2010 season wonderfully, scoring 7 goals in his first four appearances. he has been the top scorer in Virsliga.

In July 2010 he went on trial with the Ukrainian team FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk
