In 1952 he was eliminated in the semi-finals of the Olympic 100 metres event.

At the 1951 Pan American Games he was a member of the American relay team which won the gold medal in the 4×100 metres competition. In the 100 metre contest as well as in the 200 metre event he won the silver medal.
