. The AVCTL comprises 26 3A through 6A public schools located in central and south central Kansas.

The league is grouped into four divisions based upon enrollment. The largest schools, including 6A Derby, Haysville Campus, Hutchinson and Maize, are in Division I. The league is led by powerhouses Buhler, Andale, Hutchinson and Wichita Collegiate.

The lone Class 3A school in the AVCTL, Wichita Collegiate, was placed in the league by the KSHSAA in 2009 after it was expelled from the Mid-Central Activities Association.
