. His 2009 album, Anssi Kela, debuted at number four on the Finnish album chart. Before his solo career Kela played in a band named Pekka ja Susi.

Anssi began his musical career playing various stringed instruments, including the violin, cello and contrabass. In his teens he however became increasingly interested in rock music, and started to focus on guitar and bass instead. He also picked up singing at an early age, and has later shown skills with the drums as well. During his career, Kela has sold over 230,000 records in Finland.
