He begins by listing the mistakes that he has made, such as hiding his emotions ("all the things I felt and never shared") and "let[ting] her go without a fight". In the chorus, he elaborates on the central point by stating that, given the opportunity to reverse his mistakes, he would never let his lover go.

Reception
The song received a "thumbs down" review from the country music site The 9513. Reviewer Ben Cisneros thought that the production was "far too contrived", also saying that he did not consider the song suitable for a duet. His review praised Turner's and Yearwood's voices as well as the "pleasant, mysterious" first verse, but thought that the second verse failed to expand the concept of the first. Allmusic critic Thom Jurek described the song favorably in his review of Everything Is Fine, calling it a "moving duet" and saying that "Yearwood…adds exponentially to this song emotionally and texturally."The song received a nomination for Vocal Event of the Year at the 44th Annual Academy of Country Music
