Andy Duncan is an award-winning American
science fiction
and fantasy
writer whose work frequently deals with Southern U.S. themes. He was born in Batesburg, South Carolina in 1964. He graduated from high school from W. W. Wyman King Academy then the University of South Carolina
with a degree in journalism and worked for seven years at the Greensboro News & Record
.
He earned a M.A. in creative writing (fiction) from North Carolina State University
and a M.F.A in fiction writing from the University of Alabama
. Duncan also attended Clarion West
in 1994, and returned to teach there in 2005. He currently works as a senior editor at Overdrive, a magazine for truck drivers. In Fall 2008 he left Overdrive and was hired as an assistant professor of English at Frostburg State University
in Frostburg, MD.
