In 2007, Andrew Maguire became the Executive Director of The GAVI Fund's Immunize Every Child Campaign http://everychild.gavialliance.org. The goal of the Immunize Every Child Campaign is to ensure that every child everywhere is safely immunized against life-threatening diseases. By solving health care issues, Maguire said, "there is no more powerful tool in improving people's lives and education." In its first eight years, GAVI supported programs have reached 176 million children in the world's 72 poorest countries, saving an estimated 2.9 million lives.
