, the troop of Ayutthaya followed the Burmese troop and reached them in the area of the district. They fought together and the Siamese troop won finally. Then the people named the area Ban Thap Than.

1906 the district was officially renamed from Nong Kradi to Thap Than.

In 1917, Thap Than district was official added to be a part of Uthai Thani Province.
