Amanda writes extensively in the press, currently as a columnist for MSN, Health & Fitness Magazine, The National (UAE), Foodies Magazine, and national press. She is a Member of The Guild of Health Writers. Amanda has authored two books, 'Life Detox' (Piatkus Books), and 'Life Changing Weight Loss' (Piatkus Books). Amanda was nominated for the Johnny Walker/Spectator Great Scots Award in 2010 for Services to Broadcasting.

Amanda has a degree in Marketing and Communications from Napier University, and a Diploma in Nutritional Therapy. She speaks Spanish and French and has a business degree having gained a scholarship to study in the States and has worked with a wide range of clients including Microsoft, NHS, the Women’s Institute (with James Martin) and IBM. Amanda is currently studying for an MSc in Obesity Science at Robert Gordon University. She is a Member of the British Association of Nutritional Therapists. In 2009, Amanda was an ambassador for the Scottish Executive’s Active Nation Programme and 2008 was the face of Cancer Research’s ‘Great British Breakfast’ campaign. She was also an adviser on the Scottish Government’s Curriculum for Excellence Panel on Food & Health. Amanda is also a member of the Specialist Speakers Bureau (citation needed), specialising in nutrition, anti ageing, complementary therapies and detox among others and has been voted as one of Scotland’s Food and Drink Ambassadors for 2010/2011. Amanda studied Ayurvedic nutrition, yoga and vipasana meditation in India in 2006. She also represented Scotland at badminton in her youth.
