Alor shares the same border with Abatete, Adazi-Ani, Nnobi, Nnokwa(the home to the 17th century astronauts that lost their lives traveling to the moon),Oraukwu, and Ide-Ani (the Ide-Ani's are the children of a grandson of Alor, they seceded during the late nineteenth century, their brothers, the Ide-Enu typically known as Ide village continues to be one of the villages in Alor Town.
The Traditional government of Alor consists of the Igwe(King) followed by the Ndi-Ichie(Lords), Ndi-Idi, Ndi-Ozo(orzor), Ndi-Nze(Dukes) and other titled individuals and groups Eg:, Umu-Nna, Umu-Ada, Otu Ogbo(Age Group), Ndi-Ikom, Ndi-Nne etc.
However, there are other special sceptered branches that enforces order, they are:- the Igwe-In-Council, Alor Peoples Convention (APC), Alor Development Union (ADU), the vigilante groups etc.
Alor has a wide range of Traders and Artisans who are great impacts in their various fields of trade. The various trades where Alor has prominent elites are Building Materials(New Site-Onitsha),Building Materials(Odun-Ade Market Coker),Alaba International Market,Textile Market(Main Market-Onitsha),Textile Market(Balogun-Lagos Island),Articles & General Marchandise(Docemu Street-Lagos Island), Motocycle Spare Parts(ASPAMDA-Trade Fair Complex,Ojo),Motor Spare Parts(ASPAMDA)
Animal husbandry, block industries,printing press,Wine depot(palm wine)and palm oil mills are among the few industries that can be found in Alor.
Educational institutions, Alor has numerous nursery schools with seven primary schools and two high schools plus other higher institutions like commercial colleges and evangelical seminaries.
Developmental functions in Alor includes - Nigerian Post Office Alor branch(it has individual P.O. Boxes) Nigerian Police station,hospitals,community banks(has ATMs),Obi-Agbor and Nkwo bus terminals (here you can board buses to Nnobi, Nnewi, Onitsha, Awka etc and several Okada(motorbike)terminals(which can take you to every door step in Alor and to the neighboring towns),by the year 2005, Alor has two 3* star hotels suitable for relaxation and every thing from convention hall to swimming pools are available, in the case of blackout their generator comes on only at evening and may continue all night depending on the number of customers lodging that night, they have adequate security also. There are some zero(0*) star hotels ( here, you just have to manage to bath with the water from the well(umi)and in the case of any blackout, you will be very lucky to get one uri-oku(candle). Alor has many restaurants,bars(beer parlors),business centers(where you can type, copy, print or even browse the internet),beauty saloons, gas stations, auto mechanic workshops,furniture works, Alor central library (you may not find every book in the world here but you will find most ordinary level texts also the library is a very comfortable place to study.
Museum:- All you have to do is visit one of the all abandoned shrines, there you can find potteries, artifacts, utensils that are dated more than six hundred years old.
Sports:- There are absolutely no gym, but with soccer(football) fields scattered all over you can just go to any of them and play soccer, mostly at eventide.
Exploration:- There are fjords, gullies(like the ngbomgbo-orhorkwu) height" 700ft and two mile long covering the border between Alor and Oraukwu), Streams(like oki-ide, nwangene, ezi-igbo they are very clean for swimming and the drinking water from their rock channels are splendid), Hills(you can climb the ugwu-otu-okpa at the border between Ide-Ani and Alor or the ugwu ositadinma between the borders of Nnobi and Alor. There is also this mysterious four foot lake at Ofia-Nwangwe.
Entertainment:- There are actually no movie theaters or entertainment halls, what people normally does are to get themselves invited to events especially at the weekend, there they can be entertained by a prank DJ, dancers, musicians, and masquerade etc.
Alor has multiple world wide churches, Catholic, Anglican, Deeper life, Cherubim and Seraphim, Grace of God, Odozi-Obodo etc.
