. Raphael Trotman became the leader of the party. At the August 2006 parliamentary elections, it received 8.1% of the vote and won 5 of the 65 seats, becoming the third largest political party in Guyana. The party’s platform includes making race a less important factor in Guyanese politics and reforming the political system, to avoid domination by one political party.

A sixth seat won by the Party is being held by the ruling PPP to ensure that the Prime Minister Samuel Hinds be allowed to return to Parliament. This matter is presently before the High Court of Guyana. However, consideration of the case has experienced extensive delays - some observers note this is the case because a negative outcome for Hinds would see the Prime Minister having to leave Parliament as an elected representative.

The Alliance continues to grow as it moves beyond its start as a fledgling movement to become on of the main opposition parties with a chance to enable regime change in Guyana. Commentators have noted that this is in part due due to its multi-racial leadership and support base.

The Party enjoys support from some Guyanese in the Diaspora who wish to see the kind of change and leadership in Guyana

Overseas chapters are being established in the North America, the Caribbean and Europe.
