History

Alland was a ground for the former Babenberger and Habsburg

 dynasties in the middle ages. Alland was the place where the last male heir to the Babenberger throne was born. The year 1889 saw the Mayerling

 incident occur in a nearby hunting lodge. Crown Prince Rudolf, the heir to the Austro-Hungarian crown, died in the area in a case that is still unresolved to this day. Since then, Alland has been converted to a spa town that is a favorite of the nearby Vienna
