for the Kapit
constituency in Sarawak
, representing the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu
(PBB) in the governing Barisan Nasional
coalition.
Alexander is the grandson of Sarawak leader Tun Jugah Barieng
and the son of former politician Datuk Amar Leonard Linggi. He is also a businessman, having served as the Chairman of shipping company Swee Joo Bhd.
Alexander received the Panglima Jasa Negara (PJN) which carries the titles 'Datuk' from Yang di-Pertuan Agong
Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin in conjunction with His Majesty's birthday on 5 June 2010.
