Career

She was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy at 16 months and has been in an electronic wheelchair since age two. At age five, Dectis began practicing meditation and realized that her purpose in life was to inspire others. , and The Guiding Light. Always interested in music, Alexa wrote her first song at age eleven. Although she never released the track, Dectis wrote all of the songs on her album "Fairy Tale", released in August 2009. Many of the lyrics were inspired by her disease, Spinal Muscular Atrophy. "Progression", the emotional last track on the album, was written about the rapid progression of the deterioration associated with Spinal Muscular Atrophy. When Alexa finished singing the song at a fundraiser, she raised over $20,000 towards Spinal Muscular Atrophy research. Currently, Alexa has been writing new songs but has released no information on a new album.
