Cifelli was re-elected to the Board of Chosen Freeholders on November 8, 2005, and was sworn in on January 1, 2006 for another three-year term of office that expires on December 31, 2008.

On the 2006 Board, Freeholder Cifelli serves as Chairman of the Contract Review Committee, Chairman of the Ethics Committee and as Liaison to the Hudson County Improvement Authority. He also serves on the following committees: County Government, Oversight and Policy Review; Personnel; Senior Citizens and Veterans Affairs; and Transportation.

Cifelli served as Public Defender and as Municipal Prosecutor in the Town of Kearny. He also served as a member of the West Hudson Hospital Board of Governors for the past 10 years, in part as Chairman of the Board.
