Al Aweer is a suburb of Dubai
, about 35 kilometres from the city centre. It was a farming village with Bedouin
camps until the 1990s, when the city was hugely expanded and when the Emirates Road
was established. The area now contains, in addition to farms, houses, palaces, the city's main vegetables market and a used car complex. A free zone of industrial nature is also established by Nakheel.
The eastern part of Al Aweer, also known as Al Aweer village, attracts tourists for its large desert which is a popular desert safari ground.
