. The company was founded by Mr. Lotfi Mansour in 1975. The current company owners are the brothers Yusuf Monsour and Yassin Mansour. Yassin is the official Egyptian Minister of Transport. Since its founding, the company is working together with the General Motors Company

. The building of the plant was the part of GM. The staff of the plant comes from the Al-Monsour Automotive. Al-Monsour is the main shareholder and the official owner of the plant, but GM reserves contradictory to the house rights, which is part of a separately negotiated contract. This is only temporary and will be renewed regularly. The joint venture company operates under the name General Motors Egypt S.A.E.
