Taxonomy

Aguascalientia was named by Stevens (1977). It was assigned to Camelidae by Stevens (1977) and Carroll (1988).

Morphology

Fossil specimens of one individuals' body mass were examined by M. Mendoza, C. M. Janis, and P. Palmqvist. The specimen was estimated to weigh 34.1 kg (75.2 lb). The second specimen was estimated to weigh 5.52 kg (12.2 lb).
