Sanchez's reputation as a dirty fighter was exemplified when two "accidental" headbutts were thrown at Pacquaio as well as 2 "low blows" preceding the draw of the 6th round. A couple months later, Sanchez was stripped of his Super Bantamweight title and after a two year layoff, fought Joan Guzmán

Murdered

Sánchez was pronounced dead on November 15, 2005 after being shot two days before by an off-duty police officer in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Sanchez died at a Santo Domingo hospital hours after surgery to remove two bullets from his stomach.
Sanchez was shot by an officer in the Dominican air force. It is said that afterwords a mob then chased and beat the officer, whom police identified as Sgt. Diogenes Nova Rosario.
