Life and music career
Adam grew up the son of a single mother and an absent, father in Tensta, Stockholm during the 80's.[2] Despite his upbringing in a neighborhood where violence and crime was the norm[citation needed], Adam Tensta refused to take the path of many of his peers. Instead of delinquency he found sanctuary in music. Artists like Bob Marley and hiphop acts like Wu-Tang Clan, Mobb Deep and Nas became the source of inspiration for his first rhymes.
To honor his roots, Adam took "Tensta" as his artist name.
Adam Tensta excludes alcohol, cigarettes and drugs from his lifestyle. He is a representative for the Save the Children Sweden and an ambassador for Alla Olika Alla Lika, a youth campaign against racism, prejudice and discrimination in Sweden. He is also a socialist, and performed at the Swedish leftist party Vänsterpartiet's 1 May celebration in Stockholm 2010.
Adam Tensta has opened for artists like Jay-Z, Snoop Doggy Dogg, Rihanna, Youssou N’Dour, Akon and Dead Prez.
