Council area

The former Holyrood constituency of Aberdeen South was within the Aberdeen City Council area. The city was divided between three North East Scotland constituencies: Aberdeen South, Aberdeen Central and Aberdeen North. All three were entirely within the city area.

With the dissolution of parliament on 22 March 2011, these constituences were replaced by the new seats of Aberdeen South & North Kincardine, Aberdeen Central, and Aberdeen Donside. See below.

Boundary review

Following their First Periodic review of parliamentary constituencies to the Scottish Parliament, the Boundary Commission for Scotland has created three newly shaped seats for the Aberdeen City council area. These seats, formed in time for the general election on 5 May 2011, are Aberdeen Central
