discovers that Naomi
is concealing the practice's financial problems. Meanwhile, Violet
wonders what secret Cooper
is keeping from her, while Cooper himself has to decide whether or not to reveal a medical secret to a patient.
In order to save the practice, Naomi secretly promises to birth a child for a couple as an organ donor. The problem is their son, Jason, is in need of the baby's cord blood immediately. Naomi entrusts Addison with the couple and all is revealed. Addison is furious. Furious that the baby is being treated as an organ donor instead of a person and furious with Naomi for giving the couple false hope. However, Addison is not yet aware of the financial situation.
Meanwhile, Cooper treats a patient who is HIV
-positive. The boy doesn't know he has HIV, and wants to have sex with his girlfriend. His parents have yet to tell him before he turns eighteen; they had opted not to tell him in the past because their son was supposed to die before he reached such an age. Due to physician-patient privilege
, Cooper cannot reveal his patient's desires to his parents, or reveal his condition to the patient.
Addison makes the choice between Pete
and Kevin, who has now made the SWAT team.
Cooper leaves Charlotte
when she refuses to be a 'normal couple'. She wishes to keep their relationship entirely private, and does not grant Cooper permission to share the information with any of his friends or colleagues. Nevertheless, Charlotte and Cooper manage to reunite.
Dell
attempts to speak to Naomi about their relationship. However, when Naomi refuses to discus the matter, Dell quits his job at the practice.
