The 1st Fighter Regiment was formed on May 18, 1945 at Zadar. It was formed from two former RAF squadrons, No. 352

 with were operated by Yugoslav personal and equipped with British-made Hawker Hurricane Mk IV and Supermarine Spitfire Mk VC and IX fighter aircraft. It was disbanded by the August of 1945. Personal was send to Sombor
