New Zealand were the winners, claiming their third title. New Zealand were the only team that won every game at the 1987 World Championships in Glasgow. Some players on the team were Wai Taumaunu, Tracey Fear, Julie Townsend, Sandra Edge, Rita Fatialofa and the two Margs. The coach was Lois Muir
