 were local club, Al Shurta were crowned champions after a playoff victory against Lebanese champions Al-Nejmeh. Al-Nejmeh were in fact crowned Lebanese Premier League

 champions back in 1975 but no championship had been played since.

Al-Ahli of Saudi Arabia were the other team to take part, although it is unclear as to why as they hadn't won the Saudi Professional League or any cup competition to qualify.
