1942    The Quit India resolution is passed by the Bombay session of the All India Congress Committee in Bombay, and Mahatma Gandhi gave the "Quit India speech" at Gowalia Tank, leading to the start of a civil disobedience movement across British India.

1978    Air India Flight 855 Boeing 747 crashes into the sea, due to instrument failure and pilot disorientation, off the coast of Bombay, killing 213.

2005    Mumbai, India receives 99.5cm of rain (39.17 inches) within 24 hours, bringing the city to a halt for over 2 days.

2008    The first of many attacks on Mumbai, India are fired. These ten coordinated attacks by Pakistan-based terrorists kill 164 and injure more than 300 people in Mumbai.
