I have a 1086 with hi/lo range and 4 speed--pretty often I need to take the seat off to free up the hi/lo shift lever.Park acts like hi range and in reverse,the tractor will not move.(stalls)

My 1086 will not ingage in hi or lo range at all, reverse and park works ok, how do you get it ingage. thanks.Tim

Sounds to me like your tractor is getting stuck in gear. When you shift out of gear to select HI LOW or REVERSE, it is actually staying in the gear you previously shifted out of. You most likely have some worn linkage components on your shift lever.

With HI and LO both not engaging, check your linkage as well. The linkage for REVERSE and PARK are on a separate shift linkage.
