The Ottoman Empire was once the center of the world. The Ottoman Turks left their mark on warfare, cuisine, art, traveling, poetry, science and medical healing.

Yunus Emre is a well known Turkish poet, not only in Turkey but also abroad. Many of his poetries are being translated into many languages.

Piri Reis was a Turkish geographer and cartographer known for his world map which is still a mystery today. This map bears his name: Piri Reis map.

Mimar Sinan is well known for his architecture which is still highly respected today.

Ahmet Celebi was the first ever man flying with wings. His brother Hasan Celebi was the first man flying on a rocket.

Evliya Celebi was a well known traveler as he traveled many lands. He also wrote a book about his traveling.

The Ottoman Turks introduced yoghurt, tulips, kiosks, coffee and coffeeshops in Europe. They also left their mark on warfare as they were great warriors and conquerors.

Ottoman way of healing strongly influenced Europe, I suggest you should read the book: Ottoman Medicine.

Turks had a lot of great contributions on the medical world, this is still noticed today as the best doctors around the world are all Turks, for example Mehmet Oz and his father who are highly respected in the United States.

Turkish cuisine has a long history and it is well known around the world, it has his spot amongst the top dishes (with the Chinese and the French one) many nations were influenced by Turkish cuisine as many of their dishes are all originally Turkish dishes. (the Balkans)

The Turks also left their mark on many other things, if you are interested in more, you can e-mail me.
