Zee Avi went to #130 on Billboard's US Billboard Hot 200 Chart and #2 on Billboard's US Billboard Top Heatseekers Chart, and sold 6,000 copies in the United States in its first 2 weeks of release (as of June 9, 2009) according to Nielsen SoundScan. The single entered Japan's Top 100 Singles Chart, entering the chart at #82 and finally peaking to #63 for two weeks. To date, the album has sold over 300 000 units and has already reached Gold status in Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia.

Her debut album was also listed on the Asscociated Press top 10 album of 2009 where she ranked 9.
