Yuen Long (football)

Yuen Long District Sports Association is an associate football team completing in Hong Kong Second Division League
.
It was established by former HKFA
chairman Fu Lee Sha and Tsang Sam Chiu in 1959. The team entered the former Hong Kong Third Division League
in 1959-1960 season. The team carried a three-year plan to get promotion to First Division
. In 1961-1962, the team became the first district team to compete in First Division. In 1962-1963, the team gained their first top Division League title. In 1967-1968, the team captured their first Senior Shield
by beating Tung Sing. In 1968-1969, the team turned professional until 1972-1973 when it focused on a youth squad. In 1978-1979, the team beat the league giant Seiko in FA Cup
final, which avoided Seiko from capturing all the 6 major tropies in the season. In 1979-1980, the team quit the league due to financial problem.
With the promotion of the district football league, Yuen Long team was formed again in 2003 and entered the Hong Kong Third District Division League
