Yongxing, a county in Hunan province, is the home town of the PRC’smarshal Huang Ke Cheng or PRC. It has a population of 630,000 and an area of 1,979 square kilometers that include 8 towns and 17 sub-counties.
Yongxing has some geographical advantages. Vital transport links such as the National Motorway No.212 , the Beijing to Guangzhou Railway and the Beijing to Zhuhai Expressway constitute a transport network covering this area that allows local people to make one-day round-trip to cities like Changsha to the north or Guangzhou To the south.
Yongxing is relatively rich in resources. It has earned several appellations such as “the Return Home for Overseas Chinese”, “The Home of Coal”, The Home of Gold and Silver Extraction”, “Sweet Home of Tea-oil Tree” and “The Home of the Sweat Orange”.
At the first session of China 's Silver annual roundup, Yongxing was solely honored with the shiny title of “China’s Silver Capital”. Yongxing is implementing a key strategy of developing this silver capital, trying to become a distributing center of silver, a research center of high-tech silver products, an important industrial base of silver processing and purification in China, and to make its silver industry and the county's economy and its social affairs complementing each other.
Yongxing is one of those counties relatively strong in the economy of Hunan province. As long ago as 2003, Yongxing's GDP reached RMB 3.68 billion yuan. Its public revenue was up to RMB 245 million yuan. The average annual personal income of its urban residents and rural residents was 6,820 yuan 3,304 yuan respectively. In recent years Yongxing gained many honors such as "China's Electrification", "Comfortable County", "Advanced Sports County", "Hunan County Culture Front",and the "Excellent Hygiene County".
Yongxing is a tourism resort with beautiful waters and hills. The Tourist Bureau asserts that touring around the charming scenery and historical relics will make one feel relaxed and happy and enjoy oneself so much as to forget to go home.
