Line Construction

Tunnel construction between stations will use the shield-tunneling method, while other construction (stations, crossover track, etc.) will use the cut-and-cover method.

The Xinyi Line construction progress is, as of July 2011, 66.26% complete. Upon completion, it will take 11 minutes to travel from the Taipei 101/World Trade Center to Taipei Main Station

A planned extension of the line will extend the line east along Xinyi Rd. and Fude Rd. to Zhongpo South Rd., and end at Yucheng Park. It will add 2 stations and 1.6 km (0.994196378639691 mi) of additional route length. The final corridor was approved on February 12, 2010.

History

  • November 1, 2002: Ground broken on Xinyi Line construction
  • February 12, 2010: Corridor approved by the Executive Yuan for the Xinyi Line Eastern Extension.
  • July 15, 2010: The last section of shield tunneling is completed, marking the completion of tunnel construction.
