The show's inaugural German season was in August, 2010. RTL

 broadcast the first two kick-off shows. The other episodes have been shown on VOX. Both channels are part of Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland. X Factor is produced by Grundy Light Entertainment, another RTL Group company.

The auditions were held in April 2010. The first show starts on 20 August 2010. During the final show on 9 November 2010, it was announced that there will be a second season in 2011. The second season will start on the 30th August and will be broadcast every Tuesday and Sunday.

This year twelve acts will be a part of the live shows, and not nine. Furthermore, from the first to ninth live show the judges decide which act has to leave the X Factor. In the final will be three acts.
