Worlingham is a village and civil parish
in the Waveney
district of Suffolk
, England
about 1.3 miles (2.1 km) east of Beccles
. As of 2008 it is effectively a suburb
of Beccles. At the 2001 census
it had a population of 3,298, which was estimated to have risen to 3,730 by 2005.
Worlingham has a limited range of shops including a local grocery and sub-post office, hairdresser, fish and chip shop, pharmacy and small newsagent. There are three parks.
The local church, which is approximately 900 years old, is dedicated to All Saints
. There are also two schools in Worlingham: a primary with just over 100 pupils, and a middle school with over 400 students. Children attend Sir John Leman High School
in Beccles.
A community steering group has been created to bring life back into the village by giving the local children and teenagers places to go and do activities. A youth club which runs every alternate Wednesday at the sports hall in Worlingham Middle School.
