was played between José Raúl Capablanca
and Alexander Alekhine
. It was played in Buenos Aires
from September 16 to November 29, 1927. Alekhine, a Russian, became a naturalised French citizen three days before the match.
It has been suggested that if it reached 5-5 the incumbent (Capablanca) would win, but it is unclear whether this is the case.
